President’s Message
OCTOBER/NOVEMBER 2024
I continue to be inspired by all of our candidates from the bottom of the ticket to the top, they are all working hard, putting in long days to encourage us to help GOTV. There are still many volunteer opportunities from now until election day, please visit our website and/or the Democratic Office on Bell and Burns to see how you can help. A huge shoutout to all of our volunteers who continue to support the candidates!
Thank you to Gale for enlightening me about the Robert Hubbell – Today’s Edition Newsletter. https://roberthubbell.substack.com/? utm_campaign=email-home& r=2qnj14&utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email
The daily newsletter is emailed to subscribers Monday – Friday and contains current information, thoughts, opportunities for engagement, concluding thoughts and his Daily Dose of Perspective (something positive).
The October 12th newsletter (please read it in its entity) was titled “Make a plan for Election Night and beyond” was excellent. His first paragraph “Three weeks out from the election, I urge readers to make a plan for processing the results on Election Night and continuing your political engagement through and after January 20, 2025 – no matter what the outcome of the election.” He continues …”the struggle against MAGA extremism will not end on Election Night, even if Democrats sweep the ballot.” He is much more eloquent than I could ever be, so I encourage you to read his newsletter if possible. At our November meeting, along with a celebration and reflection on this past year, we will begin to make a plan for beyond….
Volunteer Writing Opportunities: PostcardsToVoters.org (email postcards@TonyTheDemocrat.org) to join and help send postcards to support various congressional candidates. votefwd.org (Vote Forward) is also looking for volunteers to write letters to a number of different states and congressional districts including Arizona. We are still looking for volunteers for Secretary and Vice-president beginning in January for our club. These positions are vital to the effective continuation of our club and activities.

Volunteer Tasks for Volunteer Recruitment
Lit Drop The Lit Drop requires that two volunteers drive to friendly houses (Democrats or left leaning independents) with addresses provided by LD 28. Once at a listed address, one of the volunteers will go to the home and tape a half page list of suggested democratic candidates on the garage doorframe using painter’s tape. The volunteers then move on to the next house on the list and repeat the task. There will be a volunteer training on a system called mini-Van which, if used as an app on your phone will give you directions to each of the homes on your list. Dates: 9/16 to 10/9
Mailing of Voter’s Guide Volunteers address, stamp and stuff envelops with the Voter’s Guide – down ballot information for democrats. Materials are provided as well as a list of voter names and addresses. These voters live in apartments or gated communities and are not part of the Lit Drop campaign. This activity could be a fun way for a group of volunteers to take part in the election work without requiring physically active. Dates: Sept. — Oct.
Poll Table Volunteer Groups of volunteers will be set up at a table placed the appropriate distance from the polling place on voting days. The task is to give interested voters the Voter’s Guide – down ballot information they might need for voting. Dates: 10/9 – 11/5
Phone Bank Volunteers will be trained in the use of the system before they begin their calling. Callers will remind voters to turn in their ballot – no attempt to convince the voter about who to vote for but to simply be sure to vote.
Volunteers will need:
▪ A fully charged phone, a computer or tablet
▪ Be logged on a Wi-Fi network.
▪ The virtual phone bank login information.
Once you log in, you will receive instructions to access the dialer and script which you can review ahead of dialing. When you begin, you will see the script and the name and phone number of the first person to call . Dates: 10/16 – 11/5
